This past few days i have had the opportunity to help out at a BabyLock/Cotton Shop event. It was held in the Provo Convention Center. We started setting up on Wednesday and finished tearing down on Saturday. Whew!!! It was a whirlwind of FUN!, stressful at times, and a great success.
There are 3 different classrooms, 3 different projects, 30 women in a class. There was a manager of one of the Cotton Shops 3 stores, plus 2-3 "angels" in each class. The black curtain divides them. Different machines, different techniques, different stress levels...HA!! (I'm truly not kidding about that stress level)
This is the serger class. We made a wallhanging/baby size quilt completely on the serger. It was pretty amazing to watch these ladies who have never sewn on a serger, complete the project in one day.
The back of the classroom...
The front of the classroom.
The instructor and student applying "cording" to the quilt.
Thee BEST instructor and the classroom "angels"!!!
This is the finished project. This is mine, I did quilt it and bind it before the event so the ladies had the visual to refer to.
This is Eleanor Burns. She is an absolute delight. She was just inducted into the Quilter's Hall of Fame in July of 2012. What a wonderful teacher, designer, and cheerleader!!
My newest friend forever, Margaret Tully. She was such a wonderful teacher. Patient, kind and hilarious!! She works for Baby Lock and has been serging for over 30 years. You want to know something about the serger, she is the master. Love love love her!!
I'm exhausted, sore, moving a little slowly, BUT all in all meeting 90 new and old friends is the highlight of the event. Getting to rub shoulders with quilting and sewing greats and people who share the same passion you do is certainly the best.
