Birds

Today I saw these birds out of my window.  The "salmon" colored feathers was magnicifent against the snow.  These are Northern Flickers and they are apart of the Woodpecker family.  The female is the one that is showing the colorful tail feathers.  The male has a moustache at the end of his beak under his eye.
They bobbed and nodded at each other.
 Caught them kissing!
I'm thinking they are showing off????
The female is in the top of the photo.

I was able to watch them for some time. It was pretty awesome!

Peanut Butter Fingers Recipe

In an effort to not lose this recipe I am posting it on my blog...This is from Dianne Morris. I have a had this since November 5th 1991!!

Peanut Butter Fingers Recipe
3/4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. soda
1 1/2 cup flour
2 cups oats

Mix butter, brown sugar, sugar and peanut butter until creamy.  Add egg, vanilla, salt and soda. Mix until blended.  Add flour, oats and stir.

Put into bottom of an ungreased 9 x 13 pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.  (Don'tover bake.  it will be golden brown.)  Remove from oven.  Cool for about 10 minutes.  Melt peanut butter in the microwave till spreadable, and spread over the top.  Cool completely in the refrigerator.  Top with chocolate frosting.
I do double this recipe and pat it into a big sheet cake pan, the baking time varies on this size.

I have a problem

I can't get my eyelashes to curl.
If they aren't curled, I look like I have no makeup on.
I don't like it when I don't look like I have makeup on.
HELP!!!

snow, snow, snow, SNOW!!!

With the incredible amount of snow we received this pastweeknd, there were many activities going on outside...besides the shoveling.

Dallas in his igloo.
Here's to many many many more snow storms that dump a TON of snow.  ;)

Tyler and little glasses?????

Tyler was trying to read some wiring diagrams in a manual, and couldn't see the microscopic words and lines.  I was walking by, so I handed him my little glasses and this is the next thing I saw!!

Thanks for bringing the snow Aunt Karen

Photo: Thanks for bringing the snow Aunt Karen
Thanks for bringing the snow Aunt Karen
From a post on Facebook from Kurtis.
I am thankful for all the wonderful things in my life. Seeing all this snow really makes me just appreciate having a warm house to live in. I know many of you hate the snow but this is always a special time of year for me. it reminds me of family, friends, and great times sitting by fires, having warm hot chocolate (Dallas) and to many other happy things to rattle off. So grab that winter coat, get your window scraper out, and make sure you have stockpiled enough fire wood, and chocolate. Its going to be an epic winter this year.

Fuzzy socks, Jayleigh and Audrey!!

Since Aunt Sue sent the instructions for making the fluffy socks, I've become addicted! Jayleigh and I went over to play with Audrey for a little while this afternoon, and this is what happened!!

I thought it was especially cute when Audrey held Jayleigh's hand.  They had a good time together, and Jayleigh's wants to go back again tomorrow!
(thanks again Aunt Sue!!)

Socks for Jayleigh

Years ago, Sue made these socks for a group of my friends who came to Scrapbook.
Jayleigh found them the other day in my closet and wore them for 2 days. I told her that we would ask Aunt Sue if she could tell me how to crochet them.
Sue sent some pretty simple directions.
So, I went to the store...
And...
  I did it.

My Mom would be so proud!!
Thanks Susan!!

things I made for the "event"

The theme for the Eleanor Burns event was cupcakes...Aprons, pincushions, etc.  I was able to make 13 cupcake pincushions.  To make the pincushions just a little more special, I made "hat" pins.
All of the ones that I made on the cupcake stand...I love those little cherries!!
I also made aprons for Lynn, Leslie and myself.  The Cotton Shop chose the fabric and a few apron patterns.  I was able to choose the combination of fabric and this pattern.  Cute don't ya think???
Yes, the aprons make you silly... ;)
The one with the white pockets is mine,
I made 2 of the black pockets for Lynn and Leslie.

Quilt Event

This past few days i have had the opportunity to help out at a BabyLock/Cotton Shop event.  It was held in the Provo Convention Center.  We started setting up on Wednesday and finished tearing down on Saturday.  Whew!!!  It was a whirlwind of FUN!,  stressful at times, and a great success.
There are 3 different classrooms, 3 different projects, 30 women in a class.  There was a manager of one of the Cotton Shops 3 stores, plus 2-3 "angels" in each class.   The black curtain divides them.  Different machines, different techniques, different stress levels...HA!!  (I'm truly not kidding about that stress level)
This is the serger class.  We made a wallhanging/baby size quilt completely on the serger.  It was pretty amazing to watch these ladies who have never sewn on a serger, complete the project in one day.
 The back of the classroom...
 The front of the classroom.
The instructor and student applying "cording" to the quilt.
Thee BEST instructor and the classroom "angels"!!!
This is the finished project.  This is mine, I did quilt it and bind it before the event so the ladies had the visual to refer to.
This is Eleanor Burns.  She is an absolute delight.  She was just inducted into the Quilter's Hall of Fame in July of 2012.  What a wonderful teacher, designer, and cheerleader!!
My newest friend forever,  Margaret Tully.  She was such a wonderful teacher.  Patient, kind and hilarious!!  She works for Baby Lock and has been serging for over 30 years.  You want to know something about the serger, she is the master.  Love love love her!!

I'm exhausted,  sore, moving a little slowly, BUT all in all meeting 90 new and old friends is the highlight of the event.  Getting to rub shoulders with quilting  and sewing greats and people who share the same passion you do is certainly the best.

Build an ark!!

It's happened.  The basement water main sprung a leak.
Ok, not a leak a geyser!!

 Food storage,  scrapbooking supplies,  fabric...
 The culprit.
Tyler had it fixed in no time, and for the cost of about $5.00.  (The little cap on the right...)
When it broke it spewed water to the opposite wall into the food storage shelves.
By the time Kurtis realized where the water was running, there was 1" of standing water in the fruit room.  Thank heaven that only a little of the bottom of the stair space was wet.
I called Utah Disaster Cleanup.  They were here within an hour, assessed the situation and started to remove the "stuff" from the basement.  They brought all kinds of fans and de-humidifiers.  I didn't worry about anything!!  The shelves are gone now,  and everything is dried out.  I'm still working on the personal damage part of things, but as my BFF Debbie  said, it's all just stuff!!
